Hey there! I’m Tiger Jia, a game designer with scripting skills and experience in multiple design fields including mechanics, systems, levels, and characters. Previously, I worked on a mobile character-collecting RPG called Shankstars. I also worked on a variety of student games during my time in college. You can check out the games I’ve worked on, including student projects, below!
Projects
Shankstars is a mobile live-service RPG with golf gameplay and a variety of characters to collect. The core loop of the game involves playing through golf courses to acquire materials and gear to upgrade characters in order to be able to complete harder courses. The main goals were to create a fun singleplayer casual RPG experience with easy to pickup golf gameplay like Golf Clash. I worked as a game designer on the game and handled some character and level design, but primarily did content and systems design on the campaign and various live-service features. More information
Mana Mix is a VR game about tossing ingredients into a cauldron and making potions with various effects in order to get a high score. The main goals were to create fun gameplay based on simple, intuitive, and instinctual motions. Mana Mix was made with a team in a VR game development class at Carnegie Mellon University. I helped design the potion mechanic and the difficulty scaling, as well as designed and programmed the UI. More information
Knight Night is a 2-player simple projectile-based fighting game, where each player controls a knight trying to knock the opponent off their horse by throwing javelins. You can play as three different knights, each with unique javelin characteristics and movement abilities. Knight Night was a semester long project made with a team as part of Game Creation Society, a game development club at Carnegie Mellon University. I helped design the general gameplay mechanics, the knights and their abilities, and designed and programmed the UI. More information
The Medium is a character mod for the game Slay the Spire, a roguelite deckbuilder. The medium has a form-switching mechanic that requires careful card sequencing in order to take advantage of each forms’ strengths and mitigate their weaknesses. The goal was to enable the player to be flexible in deck building and playstyle by having many different deck archetypes exploring the form switching mechanic. This mod was a semester long project made with a team as part of Game Creation Society, a game development club at Carnegie Mellon University. I worked on card design and character mechanics.
