Chroma is a video game I created with a team as part of the Game Design, Prototyping, and Production class at Carnegie Mellon University. It is a 2D puzzle platformer where you play as Chroma, using her mirror and its powers to manipulate light beams through a mysterious temple to restore color to the world. The game has a small tutorial level, 3 large levels, a central hub, and a final boss fight.
By making a simple level editor in Unity's editor, the non-programmers on the team were able to work on designing levels without bothering the programmers. This enabled our team to create an impressive amount of content very quickly. However, because there were multiple people working on level design simultaneously, the difficulty curve was messed up. While the team and I tried our best to reorganize the levels to make a smooth difficulty curve, there are still some sections where the difficulty spikes up or drops down too much.
Roles: Gameplay Design and Programming, UI Design and Programming
Platform: Windows
Completed: March 2017
Built in Unity
